After taking on an ambitious renovation project - completely gutting and refurbishing a four-story house to create a home she could live, work, and make art from, Roxy wanted something special for her newly refurbished home in Margate.

In a town that welcomes you with Tracy Emin's handwritten pink neon sign "I never stopped loving you", Roxy knew she'd have to get creative if she wanted to stand out amidst the Airbnb listings for eclectic family homes, Brooklyn-style lofts, and Jonathan Adler-inspired apartments.

We'd gone very traditional with a lot of the colorways, quite simple with the styling, and we wanted a little edge. Because of where the original design had come from and our love of the film Paris is Burning, we decided to name our home The House of Vogue. Even though we thought we shouldn't splurge out on a bespoke neon, we knew that it would just completely finish the place off, make it feel unique, and give it that modern stand out piece that we needed to make sense of some of the more simple styling.

I did a tonne of research and found out that we could get something off the shelf, but I really wanted it to be just ours. So I found a place that would create it for us completely custom. Paying homage to Tracy Emin's neon art, I had it made in my own handwriting, slightly scrappy but definitely unique. It holds the pride of place in our living room. We couldn't love it more.
